Competition Rules

Kilometers Logged:
Each trail has a clearly defined official length. Kilometers will be tracked using GPS-based apps, such as Pacer (or similar), that monitor trails via GPS data. Participants are required to document their completed kilometers through these apps and submit their results via email or upload them to our system.

The association will review all submitted kilometers and confirm only those corresponding to official sections of the Camino route or trail. Once verified, the kilometers will be added to your total score.

Special System for International Participants:
Since international participants often have limited time in Croatia, their mileage will be tracked separately from domestic participants.

Progress Tracking:
Participants’ progress will be publicly displayed via a Google Sheet, showing their nickname and total kilometers walked.

The Google Sheet will be updated weekly, allowing participants to track their progress in near real-time.

Registration and Fee:
The registration fee for participating in Camino Challenge 2025 HR is €25. This fee includes:

  • An annual supporting membership to the Via Sancti Jacobi Association, granting access to exclusive content, events, and promotional activities.

For current members of the association who have already paid supporting membership for 2025, no additional fee is required.

    Why do we need your information?


    Your date of birth is used to ensure compliance with competition rules and to adapt rewards for different categories. The ID Number is required to meet legal requirements for association membership according to applicable regulations.
    The association ensures strict protection of your data in compliance with GDPR and uses it exclusively for competition and membership purposes.

    How to Use Pacer or Similar Apps for Logging Kilometers

    To participate in Camino Challenge 2025, you need to log your walked kilometers using a GPS tracking app. While we recommend Pacer, you may use any app that offers the following features:

    • GPS-based trail tracking
    • Measurement of total distance walked
    • Ability to save a visual representation of the route

    Steps to Use the Pacer App:

    1. Download the App
    If you don’t already have Pacer, download it from the following links:

    2. Create an Account (Optional)
    You can create a free account to easily track your progress.

    3. Start Walking
    Open the app and begin a new GPS session. Walk official Camino trails in Croatia.

    4. Save Your Results
    Once you complete the trail, take a screenshot displaying:

    • Distance walked
    • A map of the route covered

    5. Submit Your Results
    Upload your screenshots using the link provided after registration.

    Helpful Notes:

    • If using another app (e.g., Strava, Komoot, Garmin Connect), ensure it provides the same functionality as Pacer (GPS trail and distance tracking).
    • Only the official distance of the Camino trail will be acknowledged, regardless of any additional kilometers walked.

    Why a Registration Fee?

    As a non-profit organization, the Via Sancti Jacobi Association relies on membership fees and donations to fund its projects and initiatives. The registration fee for participating in Camino Challenge 2025 directly supports the sustainability of our activities, including the prize fund. These prizes, which are exclusively available to members, serve as motivation and recognition for their efforts while contributing to the continuation of our mission.

    While our goal is to make the challenge accessible to everyone, the registration fee enables us to achieve our objectives and further promote cultural and pilgrimage values. It helps fund exhibitions, publications, and new projects aimed at celebrating and preserving Camino heritage.

    By participating, you not only join the challenge but also gain membership in the association, allowing you to contribute to and benefit from our future initiatives while supporting the work of Via Sancti Jacobi for years to come.
