Get to know Via Sancti Jacobi
Our association, Via Sancti Jacobi, is dedicated to the research, preservation, and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Camino de Santiago paths. Our mission is to support pilgrims and bring people together through shared experiences of pilgrimage, art, culture, and volunteering. We encourage volunteering, intercultural dialogue, and sustainable practices, with a special focus on improving the quality of life for both young and older individuals through educational and cultural programs.
Via Sancti Jacobi organizes a range of events, including exhibitions, lectures, seminars, workshops, and cultural manifestations, that not only enrich the community but also promote the values and richness of the Camino de Santiago cultural heritage. Our projects involve the digitization and distribution of materials related to this heritage, as well as organizing volunteer activities that help preserve and promote these values.
In addition to our cultural and educational activities, Via Sancti Jacobi actively works on environmental protection and the preservation of natural paths, promoting sustainable practices among pilgrims and members. Through our efforts, we aim to connect pilgrims with local communities, fostering intercultural activities and creating support networks.
All our activities are focused on achieving the association’s goals, and any revenue generated is used exclusively to enhance our projects and activities, ensuring a long-term positive impact on the community and the preservation of the values we uphold.
The Meaning of Our Logo
Our logo encapsulates the essence of life’s journey, represented by a cross that evokes pathways and life’s crossroads, as well as the pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago. The lines surrounding the cross illustrate the various life paths, while the dots represent the starting points or cities where the journey begins. At the center, the circle symbolizes the scallop shell of St. James, an enduring emblem of the Camino pilgrimage.
The gradient from black to red symbolizes the inner struggle and the triumph of good over evil. The journey begins with a deep black, symbolizing uncertainty and challenges, gradually transitioning to red, representing spiritual and personal growth achieved with each step. The small red circle with a white crown at the top signifies Santiago de Compostela, the ultimate destination where spiritual enlightenment and fulfillment of the journey’s goal are achieved.
